The Hermit steps away to find what the crowd cannot give — the monk on the mountain, the writer at dawn, the friend who disappears for a season and returns changed. They carry a single lantern, not a spotlight, trusting a small steady light is enough for the next step. Society mistakes their withdrawal for rejection, but the teaching is the opposite: they retreat to gather something worth bringing back. We need those who go inward so the rest of us, in time, can see further.
